In keeping with our goal of capacity-building, BAKÁS PILIPINAS helped organize EnHERIT 2021, an international heritage engineering online conference held in Manila on August 7 & 14, 2021. This is the second heritage engineering conference by Bakás Pilipinas. The first one was held in Manila in 2016 in the aftermath of the earthquake in Bohol, in collaboration with the Philippine National Commission on Culture and the Arts. This 2021 conference is organized in collaboration with ASEP (Association of Structural Engineers of the Philippines), ICOMOS/Philippines, and the College of Engineering, De La Salle University.
Featured speakers for EnHERIT 2021 were the following heritage and engineering experts: Marie Ennis (USA), Erik Akpedonu (Philippines), Dr. John Peterson (Philippines), Mary Grace Casuncad (Philippines), Prof. Gorun Arun (Turkey), Prof. Paulo Lourenco (Portugal), Stephen Kelley (USA), Michael Schuller (USA), Edmund Meade (USA), Dr. Gigi Graciano (Philippines), Dr. Andres Oreta (Philippines), Prof. Arun Menon (India), Dr. Dina D’Ayala (UK), and Dr. Elvis Cescatti (Italy). Almost 400 Engineers and Architects attended the conference.
